C'TTEE ON TIV, FULANI CRISIS SUBMITS REPORT

The joint committee set up by the Benue and Nasarawa state governments to look into the border skirmishes between the Tiv farmers and the Fulani herdsmen has submitted its findings to the two state governors.

Receiving the report at LGEA Primary School, Yelwata in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State yesterday, Governor Gabriel Suswam said the two state governments decided to set up the committee aim at finding lasting solutions to the clashes between the two farming groups in Benue and Nasarawa communities. Governor Suswam said he was committed to the restoration of peace as seen in the presentation of a mosque which was commissioned by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammadu Sa'ad Abubakar who is the Muslim leader in the country. In his remarks, Nasarawa State governor, Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, assured that the two governments will study the report with the aim of implementing its recommendations so that peace will return to various communities where both the Tiv and Fulani would live together.
