FASHOLA OPPOSES FG'S N50BN SUBSIDY FOR ELECTRICITY TARIFF
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos has criticized the introduction of subsidy in the new electricity tariff billed to begin on June 1.
Fashola who spoke at weekend in Lagos during a Town Hall meeting organised by the Ministry of Power said since the sector is on the verge of deregulation, there is no need for subsidy.
He argued that the telecom sector upon deregulation had no subsidy but it blossomed, emphasizing that deregulation and decentralisation are the best ways out of the power problem facing the country.
He advised Nigerians to learn to be discipline in the use of electricity in the face of the current shortage of power in the country.
