DAMAGED JOS MARKET TO BECOME SHOPPING MALL
The Plateau State government is to reconstruct the Jos main market as a shopping mall, the state Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Helen Maina, announced in Jos yesterday.
The market, an ultramodern architectural beauty, was gutted by fire in 2002. The commissioner, who spoke during a ministerial briefing, also said the government planned to continue to exploit the strategic location of the market by rehabilitating it.
The old Jos Main Market is located at the heart of what could go as the central business district (CBD) of Jos, close to the Nigerian Railway Terminus, for which reason the area is called Terminus by residents.
