Miss World 2011 to visit Ghana

Winner of the 2011 edition of the most prestigious beauty pageant on earth, Miss World, is set to visit Ghana from May 19 to 23.

The 22-year old Venezuelan, Ivian Sarcos will be accompanied by an entourage of the Miss World team including the first and second runner ups from the Philippines and Puerto Rico, Miss World Europe, Chairman and Chief Executive of the Miss World organization, Julia Morley and some members of the international press.

The visit forms part of plans by the Miss World Organisation to support winners of the Beauty with a Purpose Award.

The Award is given to contestants who have made real differences in the lives of people in their countries; especially those of underprivileged children.

Miss Ghana 2010, Stephanie Karikari, was a joint winner of the award at the Miss World 2011 event and she seeks to build a state of the art nursery for a day care facility at Ayalolo, a suburb of Accra.

As part of events to welcome the Miss World team, a charity ball will be held on May 22 at the Banquet Hall, State House to help raise funds for Miss Ghana 2010, Stephanie Karikari's nursery project.

On the same night, the Miss Ghana 2012 pageant will be launched.

The Miss World team will also pay courtesy calls on some prominent personalities in the country as well as visit some important tourist attraction sites.
