FORMER GOVERNOR OF KWARA STATE, SENATOR BUKOLA SARAKI

ABUJA, April 30, (THEWILL) - Former governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki on Monday reported at the Louis Edet House, Abuja, the headquarters of the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) of the Nigeria Police Force to honour an invitation to “assist” the Police in ongoing investigations into transactions between a company, Joy Petroleum and Intercontinental Bank Plc.

Saraki arrived at the SFU headquarters around 11am and left later in the evening.

Senator Saraki has been accused of fronting Joy Petroleum to fraudulently obtain a loan of N21b from Intercontinental Bank, and influencing the writing off of the loan as a bad debt without losing his personal properties that were used as collateral. Saraki has denied the allegation, saying he has no relationship whatsoever with the company.

“... he has no connection with the aforementioned company,” an earlier statement from Akintoba Fatigun, his media spokesperson, said. “Senator Saraki has consistently assured of his willingness to avail the investigative agency of any information they feel will assist their task, provided the agency furnishes him with the basis on which they want to keep inviting him ... Senator Saraki will like to remind the public that he has not done anything wrong ...”
