Saint Nicholas Hospital Founder Majekodunmi Dies

SAN FRANCISCO, April 11, (THEWILL) – The founder of Saint Nicholas Hospital Lagos, Dr. Adekoyejo Moses Majekodunmi has died in Lagos at the age of 97.

He founded the flagship hospital in 44 years ago -- March 1968.

Several family sources told THEWILL that Majekodunmi died on Wednesday afternoon.

Late Majekodunmi was also a Minister of health in the First Republic. In June 1962, he was appointed sole administrator of the Western Region following the political crisis and violence in the region which saw the Premier, Chief Samuel Akintola and opposition leader UPN’s Chief Obafemi Awolowo clash over supremacy.

He handed power back to Akintola in January 1963 after calm was restored in the region.
