DANIEL SLAMS N1BN SUIT AGAINST TWO FORMER AIDES

ABEOKUTA - IMMEDIATE past governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has instituted a N1billion libel suit against two of his former political associates.

Daniel in two separate suits  before the Ogun State High Court, Shagamu is claiming against the former chairman of Ijebu-East Local Government Area, Mr Tunde Oladunjoye and his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wale Adedayo, N500 million each for an alleged libelous publications against him.

He is contending in the suit against Oladunjoye,  that after the latter's defection to the opposition party, he resorted to publishing of offensive and injurious articles against him, especially through on-line network publications, believed to be aimed at damaging his reputation among others.

He said: 'The defendant resorted to massive media onslaught against me by publishing false, malicious, and unsubstantiated stories against me with the malicious intent of doing incalculable damage to my reputation. The disparaging stories orchestrated by the defendant against me on the internet via online publications by bloggers, enjoy widespread readership and patronage from all over the world.

Part of the offensive publications allegedly orchestrated by the defendant through the internet include 'Funke Daniel resorts to thuggery,' 'Why Daniel fled Olurin's running mate' and in a letter sent to the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri, which were  published online, among others.'

Daniel in the suit against Adedayo, had alleged defamation of his character in his book titled 'Micro Seconds Away From Death' published in 2010, alleging that he was portrayed as a murderer, who was not worthy to be associated with by decent human beings. He joined the publisher of the book as
