JOS, March 12, (THEWILL) - Hours after the bomb explosion that killed 11 people and left tens of others injured at St. Finbar’s Catholic Church, Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, six people were late Sunday evening shot by gunmen on the outskirts of the city. Three died while the other three sustained injuries; but the blast and the shooting are suspected to be unconnected.

The attackers, according to Police sources, were herdsmen. They took away the phones of their victims and called their families to notify them of their death. The three victims, all Christians, were ambushed and shot in Chugwi village. Two of them were brothers aged 25 and 30. No arrests have been made so far.

Three other people, who were wounded at Dogo Garba by the same gangsters, have been taken to a nearby government hospital for treatment.

Only on Sunday morning, the reputation of Jos as a perennial trouble spot came alive again as two suicide bombers suspected to belong to the Boko Haram Islamist militia detonated a bomb at St. Finbar’s just as the mainstream 10am Mass was about to begin. At least 11 people died while at least 24 are injured as a result.
