Wamakko Declared Winner in Sokoto

SAN FRANCISCO, February 19, (THEWILL) – The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Sokoto State Governorship election, Alhaji Aliyu Wamakko has been declared winner of the election with 518,247 votes, representing 71.18 percent of the 728,108 votes cast in the poll.

Wamakko beat 29 other contestants including the candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Alhaji Yusha’u Ahmed, who polled 131, 048 votes.

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Yabo, came third, with 7,323 votes, according to results declared the Chief Returning Officer for the election, Prof Abdullahi Zuru.
