Boko Haram Raids Prison In Kogi

SAN FRANCISCO, February 16, (THEWILL) – Members of the terrorist group, Boko Haram early Wednesday night raided a federal government run prison in Koton Karfe, Kogi State and freed all inmates of the facility, especially its imprisoned members.


Reports say the raid occurred at about 7.pm just after the Muslim Magrib prayers.


Boko Haram is a radical Islamic group that has orchestrated several deadly and violent attacks in the north. It’s spokesman, Abu Qada presently in SSS custody is an indigene of the state, which is located in the Middle Belt of Africa’s most populous country.


One prison warder was killed during the attack by the gun wielding sect members, who opened fire and shot sporadically into space during the attack that lasted for about 30 minutes. They used IED to bring the gate of the facility down before chasing other warders away.


The raid was carried out by about 20 youths belonging to the terrorist sect whose operational headquarters is located in Maiduguri, Borno State.
