AWKA- HUNDREDS of people from Igbariam community in Anambra East local government area of Anambra State yesterday stormed Government House, Awka, with placards in protest against alleged refusal of the state government to recognize one Mr. Ken Uba who reportedly won election as the President-General of the town.

Uba contested the election with another candidate, Mr. Ikechukwu Orizu, in an exercise conducted on December 26, 2010, by officials of the state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters at Igbariam, but has not been sworn-in to date due to a petition written by his opponent.

Waving placards and chanting songs, the demonstrators blocked the main gate to Government House offices and prevented government officials and workers from driving in and out of the complex.
