Murtala Nyako Re-elected As Governor of Adamawa State

Murtala Nyako, the Ousted governor of Adamawa state has won the just concluded governorship election in the state. The independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that after summing up results from the 21 local government areas in

 the state, embattled Gov. Murtala Nyako won with a total vote of 302, 986 to beat his closest rival from the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) candidate, Markus Gundiri, who polled 260, 405 votes. Former military administrator of Lagos state and candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC), Buba Marwa, polled 107, 564 votes of the total votes cast in the 21 local government areas.

Nyako, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, who was sent out of the Government House 10 days ago by the Supreme Court, won 13 of the 21 local governments and received 25 per cent of votes in two-thirds of the local government areas in the state, while Markus Gundiri of the ACN   won in   eight LGA`s. For However, Buba Marwa did not win any local government area and was even defeated in his local government, Michika, where he scored 9,170 as against the PDP, which scored 10,477 and the ACN which scored 13,655

 
However, the ACN agents claims there were alterations in some result sheets. Thus may head to the tribunal.

 
The state's returning officer, Prof Mohammed H. Mohammed, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, is yet to officially announce the result of the election, but results collated from the 20 local governments  shows that Murtala Nyako is ahead.
