The hope for quality health care delivery service in the nation's health system was once again rekindle at the Enugu State University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu when the management of Coscharis Medical and Foods Limited made a surprise donation of a Semi Auto Biochemistry Analyser worth one million three hundred and fifty thousand naira (N1.35m) to the hospital as against a purchase order by the Teaching Hospital for a colorimeter

of one hundred and twenty thousand naira.
The management of Coscharis Medical in its wisdom and social responsibility of partnering with health institutions in tackling the health challenges faced by the health

personnel noted that for a Teaching Hospital to place a purchase order for a colorimeter, it means that there was no chemistry analyser in the hospital laboratory therefore, there is the need to assist the hospital by providing a higher equipment that will serve the purpose and many others at the same time.

According to the Managing Director of Coscharis Medical, Dr. Charles Akujobi, 'the semi auto biochemistry analyzer is essential for monitoring the health and metabolic status of hospital patients. It is capable of running hundreds of test per hour and its higher advantage is the quality of results which is mostly error free. It will screen all

manner of laboratory tests up to about 150 tests, like the liver function, kidney function, spleen, prostrate, thyroid, hormonal, immune reactions and many other highly needed blood chemistry pathological investigations.'

Dr. Akujobi said his company is all out to upgrade the quality of health services delivery in Enugu and Nigeria as a whole through its services under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative embarked upon by the company since 2001 that involves the training and retraining of medical personnel as well as equipping laboratories for special hospital.

On the importance of the equipment, Dr. Akujobi said: 'the analyser is the most current laboratory equipment that can carry out almost every chemistry analysis from the brain, from the blood that can be used to make diagnosis of what is wrong with the patients. And the fluid that comes out from the body has great impact and significant in that it is used in the assessments of the blood chemistry analysis which means that whatever the result is will be what the expert will rely on in identifying what is wrong with the patient. The analyzer is also used to keep the data of the patients for a very long time as a means of patient data management.'

Dr. Akujobi said that the Coscharis Medical will not stop at donating the equipment but will also arrange with the management of the hospital on when to bring in their experts to train the staff on how to use the equipment. And that the company will also take the responsibility of servicing the equipment in case there is break down for some time.

Akujobi also called on the government of Enugu State and the federal Government to explore the benefits of the PPP initiative of the Coscharis Medical in order to achieve

total and excellent quality medical solutions that will not only stop revenue drain of sick Nigerians on medical tour abroad, but will turn Nigerian Health care community into a global medical tourist zone.

Responding, the Chief Medical Director of ESUT Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Dr. Gabriel Njeze said that for the hospital, it is a miracle in that the hospital made a

purchase order for a colorimeter worth N120, 000.00 and now we are receiving a biochemistry analyser that is worth N1, 350,000.00, that the hospital never dreamt of, at this time because of its financial involvement.

He thanked the management of Coscharis Medical and Foods Limited for this gesture and assured that the equipment will go a long way in helping the hospital in the challenges of identifying the actual problems of patients in good time for proper treatment.
