UNAMID continues funding Quick Impact Projects in Darfur

As part of the Mission strategy to assist in the development of Darfur, UNAMID yesterday funded seven Quick Impact Projects (QIP) that will be implemented by local partners in various localities in South Darfur.

The projects are aimed at constructing a police station in Nyala, an operation room for Graida Hospital, and a swage system and septic tank for El Daein prison. Other projects to benefit from the funds include the construction of a basketball field on the premises of the Scout Association in Nyala, and four classrooms in Sheria locality.

In Kulbus, West Darfur, UNAMID inaugurated yesterday a QIP which built two classrooms and an office for the secondary school. These facilities will be used by 80 students.

UNAMID patrols

UNAMID military conducted 160 patrols including routine, short-range, long-range, night and humanitarian escort patrols covering 92 villages and internally displaced persons (IDP) camps. UNAMID Police advisors conducted 125 patrols in villages and IDP camps.
