SAN FRANCISCO, November 08, (THEWILL) - President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has lamented over the death of Senator Silas Janfa, saying, "the nation has lost a distinguished senator and a man of proven integrity."

Senator Mark in a reaction to the demise of Janfa noted the late lawmaker was a man of very high moral standing who stood to be counted as a patriot when it mattered.

"We have lost yet another icon, a staunch politician, a reliable and dependable ally. He was a true statesman, a political genius of firm figure and tested over the years," Mark stated in a Tuesday statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Paul Mumeh.

The President of the Senate regretted that Janfa died when his wealth of experience and steady hands were needed to steer the ship of the nation adding, "we shall miss him. We shall miss his humour, blunt and frank disposition to issues especially as it affected the nation and the citizenry."

As a successful politician and industrialist, Senator Mark said late Janfa used his position to uplift the people in his community and beyond.

He told the government and people of Plateau State as well as the immediate family of the deceased to take solace in the fact that late Janfa lived an eventful and accomplished life worthy of emulation.

Late Janfa represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the Senate between 1999 and 2003 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was at some point Chairman Senate Committee on Solid Minerals.
