PDP Dump Alaibe, Sylva & Bruce As Governorship Aspirants

Timipre Sylva, the incumbent governor of Bayelsa state chances of contesting the 2012 gubernatorial election, under the aegis of the People Democratic Party (PDP), has been foreclosed.

Embattled governor Timipe Sylva name was conspicuously missing from the list of aspirants approved by the Gubernatorial Screening Committee of the PDP to contest the Bayelsa state governorship elections. According to a statement issued by the screening committee, the approved candidates include, Youpele Kalango, Christopher Enai and Henry Seriake Dickson.

Ben Bruce was disapproved because he holds dual citizenship. While Timipre Sylva, whose loyalty to the party was suspect, was rejected for threatening the life of the president and his wife. He was also alleged to have operated several foreign bank accounts. Timi Alaibe`s request for a waiver was rejected, he is said to have appealed the decision.
