ENUGU-ENUGU State Independent Electoral Commission, ENSIEC, said yesterday that the December 10 council election in the state would gulp N502 million.

The commission said a substantial amount had already  been released by the state government, assuring that the exercise would be conducted successfully.

State Chairman of ENSIEC, Dr Boniface Eneh, who briefed journalists on the commission's preparation for the elections,  said nine political parties had indicated interest to participate in the exercise, denying speculations that the commission had perfected strategies to rig the exercise in favour of the ruling People's Democratic Party, PDP.

Eneh, who was flanked by other members of the commission, called on those interested in the contest to freely do so, explaining that his leadership would offer them a level playing ground.
