Overwhelmed by the victorious outing of Heartland FC of Owerri in the 66th edition of the Federation Cup, Imo State government has planned a red carpet reception for the team.

According to information from Heartland's camp, the players and their officials were expected to arrive in Owerri today from Lagos.

The Imo State Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso and the Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Kenneth Emelu, would receive the team decked out in suits at the Sam Mbakwe Airport.

The players would be convyed in an open van with a large convoy round the streets of Owerri en route to the Government House, where they would be officially received by the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Governor Okorocha would later treat the players and their management to a sumptuous dinner at the Concorde Hotel, Owerri, where he would formerly announce his package to the gallant players.

Daily Sunsports was reliably informed that fans and supporters of the Naze Warriors were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their darling team, which has returned the pride and tradition of the state in football.

It was gathered that the whole of Imo State has been in an uproar of jubilation and merry making since Heartland defeated Enyimba International FC of Aba on Sunday evening in Lagos.
