The Department of State Services (DSS),  Wednesday named one Mamman Nur, as the brain behind the massive blast that destroyed the United Nations building in Abuja, and killed dozens including expatriates.

Curiously the intelligence service did not identify the person who was in the car that attacked the UN building.

In what appears to be a veiled indictment on the competence of the security apparatus, the DSS said it received what it tagged " precise intelligence " on an imminent attack by Boko Haram on August 18, but the UN attack came 9 days after.

According to the DSS, " On 21st August, 2011 about 1300 hours a joint operations by all security services led to the arrest of two (2) notorious leaders of the Boko Haram extremists sect, namely,

i. Babagana Ismail KWALJIMA (a.k.a Abu SUMMAYA);
ii. Babagana MALI (a.k.a Bulama).
2.Following their arrests, security was further beefed up in Abuja and its environs

But what the DSS could not explain in the statement is, if they got " precise intelligence" on the 18 th, why did Boko Haram succeed nine days later. The statement simply said they got the wrong guys on August 21, even though those arrested are also members of the vicious sect.

According to the DSS, Nur  a Top member of the Boko Haram sect, with ties to Al Kaeda in Somalia,  acted in concert with two other suspects.

A statement by the Services' spokesperson, Marylyn Ogar, said Nur who recently returned from Somalia, has been declared wanted.

The DSS has also identified the brand of the car used for the attack as   a Honda car  with Kano State registration number AV38NSR. It was purchased on 3rd September, 2002 and registered on 3rd December, 2002. The vehicle identification number is 1HGCBA7400A100748, Engine number, F22A72000540, the statement said.
