KALU'S MUM ASKS IBB, OBASANJO TO SHEATHE SWORDS

By NBF News

Barely two weeks after former President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-military president, General Ibrahim Babangida, exchanged hot words, Elder (Mrs.) Eunice Uzor Kalu, mother of former Abia State governor, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu, has asked the two retired generals to sheathe their swords.

In a statement yesterday, Mrs. Kalu said that being a family ally of Babangida and Obasanjo, it behoves on her to plead with them to stop further bitter comments against each other.

She said that the outburst between the two former heads of state, who she described as 'two most intelligent, respected and loved elder statesmen,' is 'a shame, dishonour and embarrassing.'

Mrs. Kalu, who holds the traditional title of Udiuko Gburugburu, charged Babangida and Obasanjo to 'stop dancing naked, which is denting and tearing into tatters their reputations built over time.'

She also urged them to stop their 'aides from all direct or indirect statements and rejoinders on the issue, as it has no lesson to teach both old and young.'

She charged Babangida and Obasanjo to 'desist from embarrassing the Nigerian military establishment that prides itself as Africa's best.'

Also, she urged them to 'reject and refrain from acting on any advice from anybody whosoever that would prompt media war.'

She would also want them to forgive each other on 'what have been said so far and, therefore, ponder over the tragedy that can befall the Nigerian nation if the youths have none of the duo to look up to, as their mentors.'
