SHUAIBU SAT FOR 1993 WAEC EXAMINATION, TRIBUNAL TOLD

BENIN CITY - AN official of the West African Examination Council, WAEC, Mr. Ajala Oyewole, yesterday, told the Edo State election petition tribunal, that the Majority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly and the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, member, Mr. Philip Shuaibu, sat for the examination in 1993 and obtained the result.

Mr. Shuaibu is representing Etsako West constituency 11 of the state.

Oyewole said contrary to the allegation by the Labour Party, LP, candidate for the April election in the area, Mr. Philip Sede, that Shuaibu got admission into the University of Jos with a fake WAEC result.

Following the allegation, WAEC was subpoenaed by the Justice Paul Elechi led- tribunal to authenticate the result used by Shuiabu for the election.

Deputy Registrar, in charge of WAEC's Private Candidates Department, Mr. Oyewole, tendered the result, which was addressed to the tribunal.

After the confirmation by the WAEC official, the tribunal was urged to accept the result as exhibit.
