SAN FRANCISCO, July 18, (THEWILL) – President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan arrived Lagos late Monday evening to begin a 2-day working visit to the state, where he is also scheduled to receive and meet with visiting United Kingdom Prime Minister, Mr. David Cameron.

Jonathan was greeted at the Presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed Airport by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, Trade and Investment Minister, Mr. Olusegun Aganga and other politicians.

President Jonathan’s visit to the state is coming after criticisms followed his silence in the wake of the flood disaster that struck Lagos a week ago. The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), the political party that governs Lagos carpeted Jonathan for his ‘insensitivity’ and said it was disappointed at the failure of the President to visit Lagos in a show of Presidential concern and support for the state and victims of the massive flooding that killed about 11 persons and destroyed properties worth millions of naira.

President Jonathan’s itinerary in Lagos is a bit unclear to THEWILL, but he is expected to discuss trade and investment with the visiting Cameron including security and Nigeria’s ongoing reform in the oil & gas sector and energy.
