The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, to ensure strict allocation of products through its legitimate members.

Mr. Chinedu Okoronkwo, Chairman, IPMAN Products Allocation Committees, made the plea, yesterday, in Lagos after its inaugural meeting at the Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company, NIPCO, head office in Lagos.

Okoronkwo said that the essence of  the meting was to ensure that allocation of products was aimed at ensuring effective distribution by members in order to avoid being diverted by some marketers.

He said: 'NNPC should allocate products to IPMAN's members to avoid being diverted by some un-recognised marketers. The only way to checkmate mischievous marketers is when all allocations follow due process by our umbrella body.'

He said IPMAN was ready to partner with NNPC/PPMC to ensure that issues associated with products scarcity were finally addressed.

He warned NNPC and PPMC to desist from given undue recognition to a faction of the group.

He said: 'We want NNPC/PPMC to detach itself from factionalising the association and deal only with constituted executive members.'
