Following the lifting of his suspension by President Goodluck Jonathan during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho has assumed his duties as the Interior minister. Iheanacho, who went back on Thursday amidst jubilation and warm reception by staff of the ministry, who appeared to have missed him so much within the short period of his absence, however declined comment on the issues that led to his suspension.

Saturday Sun learnt that arrangements were already in place by all categories of staff at the ministry to come out enmass on Thursday to celebrate his recall.

Jonathan pronounced his suspension barely 24 hours after he won his re-election as President for a fresh four years term, citing alleged anti-party activities and poor performance at the ministry.

However, staff of the ministry, who refuted his allegations of poor performance told Saturday Sun, expressed joy with the President for recalling the minister to the ministry, which they said had vindicated him before his accusers.

The minister, who had remained very calm throughout the period, however extolled the virtues of Jonathan as a God-sent leader to the nation, averring that the president's laudable performances within his short period in office as President were unquantifiable.
