JONATHAN; GOD’S GIFT TO NIGERIA – EKITI EX-DEP. GOV

By Lere Olayinka

Two days to the presidential election, former deputy governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Sikiru Tae Lawal has described President Goodluck Jonathan as a divine gift to strengthen Nigeria's unity, saying; “We must all give our votes in support of this God's arrangement.”

Dr. Lawal, while meeting with political stakeholders at Ado-Ekiti as part of mobilisation for the Saturday presidential election noted that; “Whoever that is ganging up against the Jonathan/Sambo ticket is working against the will of God for Nigeria.”

His words; “From what was witnessed in this country last Saturday, no one needs a soothsayer to agree that President Jonathan is a man sent to put things right in this country, and we can all see that things are already being put right with the last Saturday National Assembly elections.

“What is then required of all of us is to queue behind this man of destiny and collectively actualise the design of God for our nation.

“Therefore, on Saturday, we must not only vote for the president, we must also mobilise people to vote for him.”

While alerting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members of the plan by the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the State to ''bribe” Youth Corp members in the State, using a phoney induction programme, Dr Lawal said; “Our friends on the other side are running helter-skelter to manipulate the electoral process, using various methods.

“We are aware that Youth Corp members are to be compromised through an induction programme while voters cards of public servants are being photocopied and their fingerprints taken through a registration programme.

“Therefore, we must be vigilant before, during and after the elections so that our votes are not stolen by people who are desperate to win elections.

“Those of you that will be acting as polling agents must hold firmly to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2010. You must decline any form of inducement and remain good and loyal members of our great party, PDP.”
