ALMERIA THREATEN TO DUMP OKORO

By NBF News

The pro career of Nigeria youth international Stanley Okoro could well be over before it started after struggling Spanish club Almeria threatened to cancel his contract if he does not secure a work permit.

Okoro popularly called Little Messi has signed a long-term contract with the Spanish La Liga outfit, but has yet to feature for them as they fight for survival in the Spanish topflight.

'Okoro still does not have a work permit and that is why he has yet to feature for Almeria,' a source told MTNFootball.com.

'The club are really desperate for the player to play for them and have even set up an appointment with the Spanish embassy in Abuja for the player this week to ensure he secures his permit.'

Had his work permit come through several months ago, he would have by now be training with the first-team which has another Nigerian, Kalu Uche.

The 18-year-old Okoro is at present training with the Flying Eagles in Port Harcourt ahead of the African Youth Championship in South Africa this month.
