Wyclef Jean Shot In Haiti

SAN FRANCISCO, March 20, (THEWILL) – Grammy winning artiste, songwriter, producer and politician, Nel Ust Wyclef Jean, also known as Wyclef has been shot in native country Haiti on the eve of the Haitian Presidential election.

THEWILL gathered that Wyclef was shot in the hand in the city of Delmas, just outside capital Port-au-Prince and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Wyclef, himself a former President aspirant had backed fellow musician and front runner Michel Martelly for the top seat after he was disqualified from the race following his failure to meet the 5 years minimum residency requirement.

He told the Associated Press a bullet grazed his hand as he stepped out of his car to make a phone call. He also said he could not tell if he was the target of the gunman.

His publicist, Cindy Tanenbaum, also told the AP the musician is fine.

“He was immediately taken to the hospital, treated for a minor graze to his hand and released. He is fine,” she added.
