BUK Expels 87 Erring Students

KANO, Jan 20, (THEWILL) - Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has expelled 87 erring students who were found guilty of examination malpractices.

The University Senate at its 295th session approved the expulsion of the students drawn from the Faculties of Social and Management Science, FAIS, Science, Education and Technology in accordance with section 1A (i) 1A (xii) of the Senate’s approved guidelines on examination malpractices.

The Senate has also approved the rustication of 17 students in accordance with section 1B (i) – 1B (vii) of the Senate’s approved guidelines on examination malpractices.

According to official bulletin of the university, eight students were warned in accordance with section 1C (i) – ic (iv) of the guidelines.

In another development, two students from the Faculty of Science, were exonerated and re-instated by the Senate, having not been found guilty of committing any examination malpractice and for the lack of evidence against them.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, has set up a committee to look into the problems of power supply in the university and suggest possible solutions to the problems.

The committee is working towards gathering all necessary information to enable it carryout its assignment effectively.

The committee also decided to carry out an energy audit in order to know the actual total energy consumption rate in the university.
