ACN Lagos Congress: 29 Legislators Dropped
LAGOS, Jan 13, (THEWILL) – 29 legislators elected in 2007 on the platform of the Action Congress Nigeria (ACN) to represent various Lagos State constituencies in both the National Assembly and State House of Assembly have failed to retain their seats.
THEWILL gathered that two (2) senators, 15 members of the House of Representatives and 12 members of the state legislature lost at the primaries or were forced to withdraw from the election.
According to the result obtained by THEWILL from the party secretariat, Senate Minority leader, Senator Olorunnibe Mamora representing Lagos East stepped down for Mr. Gbenga Ashafa, a Permanent Secretary at the Bureau of Lands, while Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, wife of former Lagos State Governor and party strongman, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu edged out Senator Muniru Muse in the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
THEWILL checks also revealed that all those who lost out in the primaries are supporters of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola. All members of the State Executive Council, who contested at the primaries, suffered defeat.
They include Prince Lanre Balogun, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole, Hon. Paul Kalejaiye, Hon. Sunny Ajose and Hon. Samuel Ifemade.
