Update: Okowa, Amori Emerge PDP Senate Candidates In Delta

Update: Senator James Manager defeats Chief Solomon Ogba in the Delta South Senatorial District Senate primary.


SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 11, (THEWILL) – A former Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has emerged the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the Delta North Senatorial District.


Dr. Okowa scored 942 votes to defeat Dr Cairo Ojugbo who polled 286 and Chief Ned Nwoko who polled 78 votes.


In the Delta Central Senatorial District, Chief Ighoyota Amori (JP) beat Honourable Halim Agoda and Chief Charles Obule at the Senate primary election held at the Ughelli Township Stadium.


In the Delta South Senatorial District, voting was still in progress as at 5.am (WAT) at the Warri Township Stadium.


THEWILL can however report that Senator James Manager beat Chief Solomon Ogba in the contest to emerge as PDP candidate.


In the Governorship primary election, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan won the primary with an overwhelming margin.


In Sunday’s House of Representatives and State House of Assembly primaries, Honourable Victor Ochei emerged the PDP candidate for Aniocha North Constituency, while Honourable Godwin Ndudi Elumelu won in the primary to represent Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency. Mrs. Amechi Mrakpor won the primaries for Aniocha South.


In the Ika Federal Constituency primary, Barrister Victor Nwokolo defeated incumbent Doris Uboh while Ossai N. Ossai won in the Ndokwa Federal Constituency primary by beating the incumbent Honourable Charles Onyekweli.
