The ultra-modern building complex opened by Coscharis Motors Limited recently in Abuja is generally regarded as the first of its kind in the country. And, not surprisingly, to the management of the Coscharis Group, it is the best; in fact, the standard by which auto facilities should be measured, not only in Nigeria, but in West Africa, if not the entire African continent.

This was why at the Press conference preceding the opening of BMW segment of the multi-deck showroom within the massive structure and the ushering in of the new BMW 5 Series, the representatives of the German manufacturer, Director of Sales, Petter Witt; Area Manager, Mrs Wibke Stadler and a BMW staff, Mr Harald Sheffel, could not, but be welcomed with 'shots' on the new edifice.

Reacting to one of the questions on the new Coscharis Place, Witt said the structure is very impressive and reflects the BMW global standards which the auto maker always emphasizes in its relationship with dealers in various countries. He added, 'it is amazing, very fine. It is very much like my office in Munich (the home of BMW AG IN Germany).'

Witt disclosed that in building the home for BMW and other brands in Abuja, Coscharis worked closely with his company, adding that a closer collaboration exists in the area of satisfactory after-sales. After-sales support is never compromised by BMW, because it is as important to care for the vehicle after it has been sold, as it is selling it in the first place. This, perhaps, explains the array of equipment in the BMW service section within the building.

In this regard, according to the Director, of Sales, BMW is pleased with Coscharis. The brand's marketer in Nigeria is also having its service staff regularly trained locally and in Germany, he said, adding, 'we will continue to invest in Nigeria and other markets'. Next year, this will help the brand go beyond the 1.4 million units targeted in 2010.

Echoing this commitment, the Coscharis Group President, Dr Cosmas Maduka assured that there would be no backsliding in the quest for providing the Nigerian market with facilities of very high BMW standards. He remarked: 'As far Coscharis and BMW are concerned, there will be no finishing line. When we complete Lekki (a similar complex in Lagos), you will agree with me that there is no finishing line; it is a continuous process'.

On the new 5 Series sedan, Witt said it is truly a BMW: 'This vehicle perfect. It is absolutely perfect. It is BMW true and true. It is the best selling vehicle in this market, thanks to Dr Maduka and his team'. The Coscharis Group Managing Director, Mr Josaiah Samuel, confirmed that the 5 Series is the bestselling BMW in Nigeria, disclosing, however, that it was temporarily overtaken by the 3 Series twice in the past few years.
