Scores of Peoples Democratic Party members in Ido-Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State have defected to the Action Congress of Nigeria.

The defectors include a former acting governor, Chief Friday Aderemi; a former lawmaker in the state, Mr. Omoniyi Ajaja; former chairman of Ido/Osi local government area, Mr. Adegoroye Olayisade; and former Ido/Osi council caretaker chairman, Mr. Femi Omobepade, among others.

The defectors who were received by the ACN chairman in the state, Chief Jide Awe, said they decided to join the ACN because they did not want to grope in the dark any longer.

Aderemi, who ruled the state for 24 hours after Mr. Ayo Fayose was impeached in 2006 stated that he decided to quit the PDP after a wide consultation.

Ajaja said, 'We are changing the status of Ido/Osi from an axis of evil to an axis of good. We are moving from despair to hope, Ido/Osi people are here to reclaim their lost heritage.

'Never again will our people be deceived by the PDP. We have now realised that the ACN represents the best culture of democracy and human dignity.'

The ACN chairman assured the defectors that they would not be treated as strangers in their new party.
