'ACF DOES NOT ENDORSE CANDIDATES FOR PARTIES'
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) yesterday said it does not endorse candidates for political parties but only supports rotation and zoning in defense of respect for honour, trust, social justice and common sense of commitment.
The forum in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary Mr. Anthony Sani said this had been in response to the betrayal of northern members within the Peoples Democratic Parties (PDP).
'The Adamu Ciroma panel is made up of respected and credible northern elders and leaders who are expected to know more about what is best for the nation and the North in particular.
'We pray that whoever has been chosen would make it possible for the general elections to be contested among presidential candidates of northern extraction. After all this would not be the first time such a scene would play out,'' the statement said. The forum recalled that in 1999, Chiefs Olusegun Obasanjo and Olu Falae from the South were fielded by opposing political parties to contest for presidency consistent with the prevailing national consensus to that effect.
