Soldiers Intercept Terrorist Logistics Suppliers, Recover Food, Communication Materials In Borno
Troops of Sector 1 of Operation HADIN KAI have intercepted a suspected terrorist logistics network and arrested six suspects during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State, recovering food items, communication equipment and other materials believed to be intended for terrorist groups operating in the North-East.
The military disclosed that the covert operation, conducted at about 4:00 p.m. on July 19, 2026, followed credible intelligence on a suspected terrorist supply route. Troops mounted a stop-and-search operation along the route, leading to the arrest of the six suspects who were travelling in five vehicles conveying a large consignment of supplies allegedly meant for terrorist elements.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Military Information Officer of Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the recovered items included 202 cartons of herbicides, one jerrycan containing suspected acid, a Starlink wireless internet communication system, six bags of NPK fertiliser, 10 bags of rice, 50 hoes and 20 packs of knapsack sprayer pumps.
The military said preliminary findings indicated that the recovered items had potential dual-use applications capable of supporting terrorist logistics, mobility, communications and sustainment.
It added that the NPK fertiliser and suspected acid would undergo further technical and forensic examination to determine whether they were intended for the fabrication of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
"The seizure represents a significant disruption of suspected terrorist logistics networks and further degrades their ability to sustain operational activities," the statement said.
The six suspects and the recovered exhibits have been handed over to the appropriate Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation aimed at identifying the intended recipients, dismantling the wider logistics network and apprehending other collaborators and sponsors.
The military also revealed that preliminary debriefings of rescued hostages and families of surrendered terrorists suggested that sustained disruption of terrorist supply chains had significantly weakened the operational capacity of insurgent groups.
According to the debriefings, shortages of food, medical supplies, communications equipment and other critical logistics have forced many terrorists to abandon their hostages, families and camps while fleeing sustained military offensives.
Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to dismantling terrorist logistics and support networks through intelligence-driven operations, stressing that terrorists, their financiers, logistics suppliers, informants and collaborators would remain key targets of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
The military urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious persons, movements and activities within their communities, noting that such cooperation remains critical to restoring lasting peace and security across the North-East.
