The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed deep sorrow through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the passing of the former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani , who died at the age of 74. In response to the loss of the visionary leader, Qatar's Amiri Diwan has declared a four-day period of national mourning , with public sector work suspended beginning Monday, July 13, 2026. Government ministries and public institutions will suspend work, while flags across the country will be flown at half-mast.
