I Quit Acting To Go Back To 9-5 – Deyemi Okanlawon Spills

Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has opened up on his career decision to quit the movie industry for the corporate world.

Speaking during his recent interviews with the CreativiTea podcast, he explained that he formally left acting in 2019 due to the meagre pay.

He recounted how he was formally involved in 9-5, stating that it influenced his drive to go into acting, however, after battling with low pay—returning to his previous work was the best option.

He said:
“So, I quit acting in 2019. I quit because the pay was nonsense, the work was nonsense. And I just felt like I didn’t leave 9 – 5 work to come and do mediocre work.

It was difficult to wake up in the morning and go to work, and what is the point of being passionate about something and then not being fulfilled by it. So I quit and then went back to 9-5 work."
