President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his decisive victory in Saturday's governorship election, describing the outcome as a clear endorsement of his administration's performance and governance style.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said the governor's re-election reflected the confidence and trust the people of Ekiti had in his leadership.

"With his overwhelming victory in the election, Oyebanji has emerged as the first governor in the history of Ekiti State to win re-election back-to-back," the President stated.

Tinubu commended the people of Ekiti State for conducting themselves peacefully during the election and for once again entrusting Oyebanji with the mandate to govern the state for another four years.

"The renewed mandate is therefore a clear vote of confidence in continuity, stability, and people-centred governance," the President said.

He also praised security agencies for maintaining law and order throughout the electoral process and charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain efforts aimed at delivering peaceful, free, fair and credible elections ahead of the August governorship election in Osun State and the 2027 general elections.

President Tinubu noted that Governor Oyebanji's first term recorded significant achievements in infrastructure development, agriculture, youth employment, education, healthcare and rural development under the BAO agenda.

He urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory and embrace all residents of the state irrespective of political affiliations.

"President Tinubu urges Governor Oyebanji to remain magnanimous in victory and to carry all Ekiti people along as he consolidates on his achievements in the next four years," the statement added.

The President also commended other candidates who participated in the election, saying they had exercised their democratic rights and should now join hands with the governor in moving the state forward.

"It is now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance," he said.

Tinubu further reaffirmed the Federal Government's commitment to working closely with the Ekiti State Government to deliver more democratic dividends and accelerate the implementation of the administration's Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.

The President also prayed for divine wisdom, strength and good health for Governor Oyebanji as he begins a fresh four-year mandate at the helm of affairs in Ekiti State.
