Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has led residents of Oyo State in a protest demanding the eviction of bandits from the state.

VeryDarkMan, alongside protesters on Tuesday, called for urgent intervention by the Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government, following the recent kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of the state.

Today marks 32 days since the abduction of the schoolchildren and teachers, who were taken on May 15, 2026.

The protesters, who marched in large numbers, were heard chanting “Bandits must go” and “Leave our land” as they made their way through the area.

Addressing fellow protesters at the Iwo Road Roundabout, VeryDarkMan spoke in pidgin English, saying, “Anybody sent to disrupt this protest, I swear to God, we will beat you well. I will advise to just go home because we will beat you well. That is number one.

“Number two, if we don’t gather here today, what happened to those children and that teacher will happen to another person. I will tell you for free, very soon, they will take Nigeria from us if we don’t stand up.”

From there, the protesters marched to the Government House in Agodi, Ibadan, where they continued chanting and demanding for the rescue of the abducted victims.

The development comes amid growing concerns over insecurity across Nigeria and increasing calls on the government to secure the release of persons recently abducted by kidnappers in Oyo State.
