Peter Obi And I Offered Aisha Yesufu House Of Reps Ticket, She Felt Too Big For It— NDC Leader

The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has revealed that former NDC senatorial aspirant, Aisha Yesufu, declined an offer to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives under the party’s platform, despite efforts by him and the NDC’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to persuade her.

Dickson made the disclosure on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting of the party in Abuja, where he addressed ongoing developments and internal disagreements within the NDC.

His remarks come amid recent tensions within the party and days after Yesufu publicly criticized the former Bayelsa governor over what she described as an unnecessary political battle.

Speaking at the gathering, Dickson said the party had previously considered Yesufu for elective office and had attempted to convince her to run for a House of Representatives seat, even though she had earlier sought to represent the party as a senatorial aspirant.

“Now, talking about the FCT, do you know that Peter Obi and I offered Aisha Yesufu a House of Representatives ticket, but she turned it down?” Dickson told party members.

According to him, Yesufu rejected the opportunity despite the intense competition usually associated with legislative positions.

“House of Representatives that people are fighting for, she said she’s too big for it,” he added.
