Democracy Day: Nwifuru Boosts Security With 31 Brand New Hilux Vans
Governor Francis Nwifuru has donated 31 brand new Toyota Hilux Vans to security agencies to boost their operations in the state.
The donation was part of activities marking the 2026 democracy day celebration in the state.
The vehicles were distributed in differing numbers to the Army, Police, Civil Defence, Customs, Immigration, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Correctional Service and the Department of State Services.
Commissioning the vehicles at the Governor's office premises, venue of a brief ceremony to mark the day, Governor Nwifuru noted that Ebonyi from inception has been lucky with posting of commanders and heads of security agencies, and paid tribute to the agencies for their sacrifices, gallantry and dedication to service which has accounted for the peace, security of lives and property enjoyed in the state.
He also appreciated the leaders, elders and youths of the state for their cooperation with government and security agencies in providing information and maintaining the existing peace in the state.
He charged the security agencies to be more vigilant, combat-ready and professional even as activities geer up for 2027 general elections.
Reafirming his administration's commitment to security and support to security agencies Nwifuru further expressed appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector-General of Police and other security chiefs in the country for their commitment to peace and security.
Setting the tone for the event, the state Commissioner for internal Security, Chief Etta Ude described Ebonyi as the safest and most peaceful state in Nigeria, and thanked the Governor for the gesture which he said would motivate the security personnel in the state to do more.
The commissioning was preceded by a short parade and inspection of guard of honour mounted by the Police in commemoration of the event.
