JOS, Oct 21, (THEWILL) - Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State has debunked rumours that he is frustrating his deputy, Mrs. Pauline Tallen because of her ambition to succeed him.

Jang, through his Director General, Political and Research, Gyang Pwajok accused the Deputy Governor of playing to the gallery, saying, she has resorted to lies against Jang just because of her ambition, adding, that the actions of the Tallen has exposed he as a "fifth columnist."

Jang said Tallen’s recent declaration to vie for the governorship shows that she had long nursed a governorship ambition and plotted to overthrow him long before the fracas assumed its present dimension, maintaining that he had accorded the Deputy Governor’s Office all its due respect; but that Tallen refused to reciprocate the kind gesture of the governor.

Pwajok said Tallen’s resolve to contest against her boss is the height of irresponsibility in the history of Nigerian politics.

Commenting on the alleged gang up by past civilian governors of the state against Jang’s reelection in 2011, he said that Governor Jang has never at any time relied on any individual to win elections, but believed in the Judgment of the masses through the ballot box, pointing out that “Jang believes in the power of the people’s mandate.”

He also corrected media reports that plateau State government had donated the state Liaison office in Abuja to the Jonathan\Sambo Campaign Organization saying that “it was only part of the Liaison office that was rented out to the campaign organization.”

He challenged those who are quick in commenting on public issues to always verify their facts in other not to mislead the masses; he equally called on the media not to allow itself to be used as tools for destructions by selfish individuals and group who are bent on destabilizing good governance. He described the media as “minds managers” adding that it therefore must watch out on what it dishes to the public.

On the allegation by the Afizere people that Jang is taking their lands and giving them to Beroms, he said the achievement recorded by the present administration was responsible for the envy against the governor. He said both Afizere and the Beroms have lots of culture and traditions in common.
