President Tinubu, Macron, And Ruto Converge In Nairobi For Landmark ‘Africa Forward’ Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Nairobi early Monday for the Africa Forward Summit, focusing on driving economic transformation and sustainable growth . His participation underscores Nigeria's commitment to advancing African unity and fostering strategic partnerships.

The presidential aircraft landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at approximately 12:18 a.m. local time, marking a critical diplomatic mission. This visit is part of a three-nation tour aimed at promoting Nigeria's economic reform agenda.

Upon arrival, President Tinubu was officially received by a high-level delegation, including Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi. The welcome party included senior Kenyan government officials and members of Nigeria's diplomatic mission.

Co-hosted by Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron, the summit will focus on strengthening Africa's economic future through trade and infrastructure, reports. Discussions will center on energy transition, climate resilience, and investment partnerships.

The Presidency emphasized that President Tinubu’s participation in the summit underscores Nigeria’s dedication to continental unity and economic synergy. By engaging with other leaders, Nigeria aims to strengthen the regional collaborations and strategic global partnerships essential for accelerating development across Africa.

The gathering serves as a vital arena for both bilateral and multilateral dialogues, connecting African heads of state with international stakeholders. These high-level interactions are designed to unlock fresh growth opportunities and deepen integration, ensuring the continent remains a competitive player in the global market.

Throughout the summit’s sessions, President Tinubu will advocate for critical drivers of Africa’s future prosperity. His agenda focuses on expanding intra-African trade, ensuring food security, and addressing climate change, alongside advancing the digital economy and enhancing maritime cooperation.

Accompanying the President is a specialized ministerial team reflecting these priorities, including Bianca Ojukwu for Foreign Affairs and Sen. Abubakar Kyari for Agriculture. The delegation also features ministers overseeing Industry, Environment, Communications, and the Blue Economy to ensure comprehensive representation across Nigeria’s key economic sectors.

The delegation also includes Mrs. Omotenioye Majekodunmi , the Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change; Ambassador Ayodele Oke , Nigeria’s Ambassador to France; and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye , the Minister of State-designate for Foreign Affairs . Their presence reflects a multidisciplinary approach to the summit’s core themes of innovation, climate action, and global diplomacy.

The Africa Forward Summit is expected to be a major landmark, drawing heads of state, top business executives, and policy experts from across the globe. Discussions will focus on crafting African-led solutions for development, with a heavy emphasis on sustainable growth and economic transformation.
