Imoke To Receive International Award In Good Governance

CALABAR, Oct 19, (THEWILL) - The Cross River State’s economic thrust in tourism and agriculture and its approach in spearheading tourism development in Nigeria has continued to attract international commendations with the American Nigerian International Chamber of Commerce (ANICC) with headquarters in Atlanta Georgia, USA honouring Governor Liyel Imoke with an award for Excellence in Good Governance.


According Emelia Orubele, President and Chief Executive Officer of ANICC, the award will be presented to Imoke during the upcoming Nigerian Non-Oil Export Trade and Investment Conference sponsored by the Nigeria Export Promotion Council and American Nigerian International Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Nigerian Consulate, and several US public and private sector trade organizations in Atlanta between November 11-13, 2010.


With the award and by attending the conference, Imoke will have an opportunity to showcase Cross River State’s unique and attractive opportunities to prospective US investors and businesses that are interested in doing business in Nigeria.


Mr. Iloyd F. Ukwu of Law Group International, Chartered, Washington, USA, giving an insight to the award disclosed that: “In recognition of your leadership and development excellence, we submitted your name for recognition by the organization above, “that they are honoured and am proud to convey to the governor that ANICC has selected him for the “Outstanding Achievement Award in Culture, Tourism and Governance.”


According to Ukwu, the governor’s attendance would go a long way to add to his international profile which is necessary for the attraction of much needed foreign investments in Cross River.
