ABUJA BOMB BLAST : INVESTIGATION CONTINUES – SECURITY CHIEFS

By NBF News

Security chiefs yesterday said investigations into the October 1 bomb blasts in Abuja, continue contrary to speculations that the incident will go the way of others, uninvestigated and swept under the carpet.

Efforts are being made to unmask those behind the explosions, FCT Commissioner of Police, Mr. John Haruna, has stated, even as he added that there was no rivalry or feud among security agencies in doing so.

The Police boss disclosed this at the end of a meeting of security chiefs at the FCT which held at the Command Headquarters of the Police. Those that attended the strategy meeting include the new Director of the State Security Service (SSS) in the FCT, Mr. John Okojie, Commander, Guards Brigade, Colonel Emmanuel Jebe Atevwe and Haruna, who hosted the meeting.

Haruna, who spoke with our correspondent after the meeting, expressed reservations over media reports that the various security agencies were working independently on the bomb blasts and are stalling the investigations.

According to him: 'It is not a coincidence that you are meeting us like this . The Guards Brigade Commander, the new Director of State Security Service and the Police. This is how we always meet. It is quite unfortunate that any media house would want to circulate rumors that are unfounded. We in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) work together.

'Constitutionally, the Police, SSS and the military have their roles, but at all times, we are expected to complement each other where the need arises and this is what we have been doing especially at the FCT.

'That report is not only false but mischievous and probably calculated to stir up unnecessary sentiments.
