US to assist Ondo on people-oriented programmes- Envoy

The United States Consul General in Nigeria, Mr. Joseph Stafford has expressed the readiness of the consulate and the United States of America Embassy in Nigeria to support the people-oriented programmes of the present administration in Ondo State. He made this known during a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in Akure on Wednesday (yesterday). To enable him fulfil the promise, he advised the State government to make known to his office the State developmental blue print formulated for the delivery of democracy dividends to the people.

“We're ready to collaborate with Ondo State Government to succeed in its laudable programmed designed towards the realisation of the yearnings and aspiration of the citizens, he said.

Responding, Governor Olusegun Mimiko appreciated the support of the United Stats of America (USA) to Nigeria in areas of commerce and politics. He emphasised the need for the developed countries to support Nigeria to achieve political stabilitradding that it is only when the votes of the people count that leaders can be accountable to the citizens.

Noting that government could easily achieve its dreams through a collaborative effort, Mimiko solicited the partnership of the visiting team in Agriculture, Health, Tourism and Education. “We've visited the United States of America sometimes this year when we marketed the state's economic potentials to the outside world and we're expecting to reap bountifully from the business trip” he said.
