Nigerian Railway Agency Suspends Port Harcourt–Aba Train Services
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended train services on the Port Harcourt–Aba corridor over what it described as “routine maintenance” on the route.
In a statement released on Friday, the NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, said operations would remain shut down until Tuesday, September 9, 2025, when regular services are expected to resume.
"Port-Harcourt to Aba train services suspended for routine maintenance. To resume regular train services on the 9th of September 2025.
We regret all inconveniences,” the statement read in parts.
The Port Harcourt–Aba line, part of the NRC’s narrow-gauge network in the South-East and South-South regions, has seen increased passenger traffic in recent months, particularly among traders and commuters.
