JOS, Sept 26, (THEWILL) – The Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Mrs. Pauline Tallen has declared to run against Governor Jonah Jang for the PDP gubernatorial ticket in the state. Mrs. Tallen submitted her nomination and expression of interest form just before the expiration of the deadline.

The Deputy Governor said her decision to contest against Jang is to ensure the permanent restoration of lasting peace and harmonious co-existence which has eluded the state in the recent past.

Tallen told THEWILL that she is serious about contesting the election adding that the people of the state will formerly receive her campaign materials this week. She said part of her reasons to contest is to restore the battered image of the state both within and outside the country owning to leadership problems.

"Plateau State needs a sincere, committed, just, and a leader with the fear of God to rule the people without any show of segregation of ethnic or religious consideration to move the state forward and to bring back the past glory of plateau "as a Home of peace and Tourism" where all Nigerians want to live irrespective of their tribe or background."

She called on the politicians in the state to make sure they play politics according to the rules in order not to heat up the fragile peaceful atmosphere currently being enjoyed in the state.

The Deputy Governor expressed optimism that her candidature will be supported by the electorate in the state who obviously want changes in the political, economic and socio-cultural affairs of the state.

Speaking on the ongoing crisis rocking the PDP in the state, the Deputy Governor called on all the PDP supporters to work for the interest of the people of the state and to effect the needed change desired in the state come 2011.
