Ekiti State Governor, Engr. Segun Oni has hailed the reappointment of Chief Olusegun Rusewe as the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), describing it as merited and well deserved.

Governor Oni, reacting to Chief Rusewe's reappointment through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said Tourism in the country had witnessed great turn around since he (Rusewe) became the Director General four years ago and it was only normal that he be reappointed.

Governor Oni, who noted that the reappointment was an affirmation of Chief Rusewe's contribution to NTDC within the short period that he had spent, said; “Since his appointment in 2006, he has through extensive and aggressive marketing and promotion of the tourist attractions that abound in the country been able to inculcate a culture of recreation in future generations by encouraging the creation of Youth Tourism Clubs in schools as well as stimulation of interest in leisure activity amongst adults.

“He has brought his expertise in marketing and public relations to bear on the NTDC and under his leadership, Nigeria has been placed on the world map in terms of tourism potentials.

“It is to Rusewe's credit the launch of Satellite Navigator and mobile phone planner, which facilitate easy travel for domestic tourists as well as in-bound tourists and other initiatives that has made NTDC a brand.”

While urging the NTDC boss not to rest on his oars by making sure that all the nation's tourism potentials are harnessed for the benefit of the country's economy, Governor Oni said; “I have no doubt that my brother, friend and namesake, Chief Segun Rusewe will continue to make NTDC the cynosure of all eyes in the world tourism industry and I pray that God will continue to give him the strength and wisdom to give his best at all times.”
