2011: PRESIDENT JONATHAN’S CANDIDATURE IS BAD LUCK TO SOUTH EAST AND SOUTH – SOUTH – SESSPF

By Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze

0n 14th September, 2010 a new political pressure group was formed and inaugurated in Yola, Adamawa State capital by the South East and South – South indigenes residing in the North East geo-political zone of Nigeria. The Group formed to champion the cause and well being of her people residing in Northern part of Nigeria. In a colourful event in Yola, Adamawa State attended by the bigwigs of Ibos, Ijaws and their brothers from the South –South residing in the North East was chaired by a business mogul and political juggernaut from Bauchi State, Chief Mrs. Igwe Uzor. Chief Mrs Uzor described the event as the melting point of the best of the South-South and South-East indigenes in the North East geo-political zone.

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze the Chief Executive Officer of the famous Eze Continental Sports Investment based in Yola who is the Vision-Bearer of the new political outfit while inaugurating the Zonal Executive Officers that will run the affairs of the group admonished members that as key stakeholders in the economic setting in the region, it is time we not only take our political destiny in our hands but take the right steps in positioning ourselves in the political setting in the zone and Nigeria as a whole. Today, we are starting off a program that will change the landscape of politics in the zone and affect the lives of our people in this zone positively. Though we all are from the South but some of us have lived in the North for more than thirty years and all our kids were born in the North so we are all more stakeholders in the affairs of the country and the need for us to come together as an entity need not be overemphasized. I am happy that within few weeks messages were sent out this crowd from the six States in the North East of Taraba, Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi and Yobe could honour this clarion call and I am convinced that the sky is the limit of this movement. We all are aware of the politics currently happening in Nigeria where our brother and current President of Nigeria, Dr. Jonathan Goodluck is trying based on miscalculation and misadvise from some misguided politicians is trying to ridicule the zoning principle that brought him to power which may endanger our co-existence with our brothers in the North if not handled maturely. To us, we see his adventure as an attempt to deny the South –South and South-East the eight years due to them from 2015 when the North may have concluded their tenure and this is not acceptable to us as it is bad luck to our people if he succeeds to win the 2011 presidential race.

Chief Sunny Udoh the North East Zonal Coordinator of SESSPF thanked Chief Eze for this initiative but stated that after much consultations with our people and several town hall meetings held in the six States of North East region comprising of Adamawa, Taraba, Bauchi, Gombe, Bornu and Yobe States have unanimously in order to avoid any bad blood among the various zones in Nigeria resolved and agreed to support the presidential bid of Alh. Atiku Abubakar in this historical day of 11th September, 2010 in the ancient city of Yola the capital of Adamawa State. His adoption is informed of the fact that Atiku Abubakar has resolved that he will serve for only one term thereby ceding power back to the South come 2015. This notwithstanding among other presidential aspirants today that have indicated interest to run for the 2011 election, he is the most outstanding democrats and most experienced out of them all who knows the problems of Nigeria and has proffered solutions to some of them so it is better we entrust our destiny in the hands of such a fellow who is more Southerner than most of us. Being married to two of our daughters, Hajiya Titi Abubakar a Yoruba and Hajiya Jemila Abubakar an Ibo proven that he is both a Northerner and a Southerner and will represent the entire country adequately. He has being a tremendous help to most of us from the South residing in the North so we are in better position to educate Nigerians on why Atiku is the best candidate for the 2011 election. He is a patriotic Nigerian, detribalized and well connected and respected to preside over the affairs of this country for the benefit of all and sundry. We therefore urge our brother President Jonathan not only to support Atiku but ensure that he is adequately encouraged to fly the PDP ticket if he truly loves this country. We urge all the PDP Delegates to seize this unique opportunity to rise and support this illustrious son of Nigeria that is a gift to us all to clinch the PDP's ticket. We are convinced that together we can make good things happen to our country again.

Hon. Feddy Iwuorie the Zonal Secretary concluded by thanking the Adamawa State Chapter of PDP under the chairmanship of Alh. Mijigower U. Kugama and the National Chairman of PDP, Dr Okwessillieze Nwodo for ensuring that waiver was duly granted to Atiku Abubakar to bring greatness to our great party.
