Celebrating A Black Angel: Judith Chinenye Igwe.
In his song entitled, "So Long", the late music icon, Majek Fashek, queried the colonial mentality notion which held that angels of God are "white" in complexion. However, the answer to Majek Fashek's query is not just that the angels of God are black, rather the most reliable, comely, compassionate, disciplined and diligent angels of God are black. The "scientific" proof of this conclusion is not far fetched: The best of black angels, Judith Chinenye Opoke was born on 24th July to the family of the first Assistant Inspector-general of Police of Abakaliki extraction, AIG Kelvin Opoke, of Ndubia Igbegu in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State. Judith studied accountancy in Ebonyi State University and served his fatherland under the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, scheme in Abuja.
At a time when the biddings of the heart were more imperative than the cumulative cravings of both the flesh and the pocket, Judith followed her heart to the dynasty of Igwe Egbarada Aleke Imeze of Anmeze Nwowho kindred of Igbojima sub-clan in Idembia Ishieke, Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi State. The cardio-magnet which drew her into that dynasty was no other person than her amiable course mate, professional colleague, son of Chief Patrick Igwe who is the incubent Ebonyi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Uchenna Stephen Igwe. They wedded in 2011 and the union is blessed with vibrant and promising children.
Friends and acquaintance of the Igwe's know that the unique thing about this couple is that both man and woman wear humility like robes. Judith belongs to the zodiac sign of Leo and, true to the lioness that lives in her, her self confidence is infectious even though she is calm, compassionate and unassuming. Judith and her husband seem to understand each other so well that they have no need for words. It is easy to find them discuss, laugh and even sing for and with each other with their eyes! Judith and her husband who holds the Chieftaincy title of "Enyi Oha" (Friend of all) have elevated friendship into a career. Their trademark hospitality makes their house, literally, an oasis where both the high and low find serene anchorage and are treated like royalties.
Speaking about his wife, the love-laden Ebonyi Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Igwe, said that the only reservation he has about heaven is the claim that no one would recognize the other: Hon. Uchenna Stephen Igwe wants God to reconfigure heaven in such a way that he would see, recognize and continue with Judith at the end of their earthly sojourn. For Hon. Igwe, heaven is could be defined wherever his Judith is.
Ladies and gentlemen, today, 24th July, is not just another 24-hour day. Today is very special because it is the birthday of the soul mate of Hon. Uchenna Stephen Igwe. It is the day of the best of the Angels - Judith. As the rain of prayers and good wishes continue to pour and soften the paths of the celebrant, I join the family and friends of this great Amazon to pray that the presence of God goes with her into her new age.
